COURSE DESCRIPTION
The Advanced Diploma of Information Technology is designed for individuals in various information and communications technology (ICT) roles who possess significant experience in specialized technical skills or managerial business and people management skills. This qualification prepares individuals for complex tasks in telecommunications network engineering, whether working independently, leading a team, or strategically directing a business, and is applicable across a wide range of industries or as a business owner (sole trader/contractor The skills required for these roles may include, but are not restricted to cyber security, web development, programming, telecommunications, cloud computing, application and software development, network security, data management, and project management.
Graduates of this program are equipped for career outcomes such as telecommunications network engineer.
The core subjects include critical thinking for complex problem-solving, managing team effectiveness, promoting workplace cyber security awareness and best practices, interacting with clients on a business level, managing IP, ethics, and privacy in ICT environments, and planning and monitoring business analysis activities in an ICT environment.
The elective units provide additional depth and specialization, covering areas such as evaluating networking regulations and legislation for the telecommunications industry, planning and managing troubleshooting advanced integrated IP networks, managing ICT project planning, managing network traffic, producing ICT network architecture designs, evaluating vendor products and equipment, managing network security, designing and implementing quality assurance processes for business solutions, developing technical requirements for business solutions, and configuring, verifying, and troubleshooting WAN links and IP services. This advanced diploma ensures that individuals are well-prepared for leadership roles in the rapidly evolving field of information technology.
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Entry requirement for enrolling in Advanced Diploma of Information Technology – Telecommunications Network Engineering (ICT60220, CRICOS B) at Milestones are:
Have completed at least the equivalent of Year 12.
Minimum age of 18 years.
English proficiency levels of IELTS 5.5 or equivalent.
In addition, all students will be required to undertake a pre-training review including an LLN assessment, in order to assess their existing skills, knowledge and experience to undertake the course for pathway or capability of a business administrator across all business functions.
