COURSE DESCRIPTION
The Australian curriculum is taught with Sinology providing the underlying ethos using a bi-lingual mode based on the principals of Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL). The planned learning that is offered and enacted by Ming-De International School Toowoomba, is much more than simply a syllabus, our curriculum is dynamic and encompasses:
The learning environment
The learning resources
The teaching approaches and strategies
The assessment programs and methods
The values and ethos of our school
The relationships and behaviours among students and teachers
These values are all interconnected and provide the experiences that contribute to student learning.
The Primary curriculum consists of sequenced learning through relevant and contextually based units of work in each year level. Learning programs and common teaching practices are designed and delivered to reflect differing developmental stages of the students. Teaching staff develop and implement learning programs that are reflective of current education trends and quality instruction.
In the early years, priority is given to literacy and numeracy development as the foundations for further learning. As students make their way through the primary years, they focus more on the knowledge, understanding and skills of all eight learning areas of the Australian curriculum: English, Mathematics, Science, Health and Physical Education (HPE), Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS), The Arts (Dance, Drama, Media Arts, Music, Visual Arts) Digital Technologies and Languages (Chinese).
REQUIREMENTS
Students must provide evidence of satisfactory academic performance appropriate to entry to the Year level requested on the Application for Enrolment Form.
Requirements include:
➢ Prep to 3: Evidence of application to schoolwork and age-appropriate achievement in literacy and numeracy areas of the curriculum.
➢ Year 4 to 6: Average of 50% in English Language studies undertaken at their current school, as evidenced in school report, and 4 across all macro skills.
English Language Proficiency Requirements
1. Applicants are assessed individually based on the contents of their report cards and personal references and may also be required to undertake a language proficiency test set by the school.
2. If supplied, Ming-De International School will assess evidence of English language proficiency presented by a student at the time of application but reserves the right to confirm the student’s English language proficiency through additional tests.
