The Diploma of Arts is your pathway to an Arts degree at Monash. If you’re inspired by new ideas, social and political issues, language and the way literature history and communication shapes our world, then our Diploma of Arts could be for you.
How the program works
Our diplomas are offered in two parts: part 1 and part 2. In part 1, you’ll study core Arts subjects to prepare you for your chosen stream. In part 2, you’ll choose your specialisation and study the same subjects as first?year University students.
Psychology stream – for students who would like to complete a major in psychology or become a psychologist.
Sociology stream – for students considering majoring in communication, international relations or media studies.

REQUIREMENTS
Age requirements
Part 1: 16 years
Part 2: 17 years
If you do not meet the age requirements, you may be offered a deferred place.
Academic entry requirements:
Entry requirements may vary from country to country. Students are required to complete an international academic qualification equivalent to Australian year 11 or year 12.
English Language requirements:
You will meet the English language requirements if:
You have completed Australian Year 11 and achieve a grade of 60% in your English Language subject/s, or
Your Australian Year 11 equivalent program was taught in English, and you achieved satisfactory grades in your English Language subjects.
Alternatively, you will need to meet the minimum score in one of these English tests.
For Part 1
IELTS: 5.5 (no band less than 5.0); TOEFL IBT Paper Edition: 46 – Writing 14, Speaking 14, Listening 4, and Reading 5; Pearson Test of English: 50 (no band lower than 42); Monash English Bridging: Successful completion of Module 3; Duolingo English Test: 105 Plus performance in long turn answers. Long turn answers consist of speaking and writing components and are graded by Monash College.
For Part 2
IELTS: 6.0 (no band less than 5.5); TOEFL IBT Paper Edition: 60 – Writing 18, Speaking 16, Listening 7, and Reading 8; Pearson Test of English: 50 (no band lower than 42); Monash English Bridging: Successful completion of Module 3; Duolingo English Test: 105 Plus performance in long turn answers. Long turn answers consist of speaking and writing components and are graded by Monash College.

Monash College, based in Clayton and Melbourne, Victoria, offers Foundation Year and Diploma courses that lead into first and second year degrees at Monash University, one of the world’s top 100 universities. The Monash University Foundation Year will prepare students for first year entry to all 10 faculties at Monash University. The Monash College Diplomas offer preparation for second year entry to six faculties at Monash University: arts; art, design and architecture; business; engineering; information technology; and science. The College enjoys a global network across China, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Sri Lanka.
