COURSE DESCRIPTION

Course Description

This qualification reflects the role of individuals working in accounting and seeking professional recognition, including tax agents, accounts managers and business analysts; and to employees performing a range of accounts management tasks for organisations in a range of industries. At this level individuals are expected to apply theoretical and technical skills in a range of situations and to display initiative and judgement in planning activities. They have autonomy in performing complex operations and can be responsible for planning, coordinating and evaluating the work of others within broad but generally well-defined parameters.

Work functions in the occupational areas where this qualification may be used are subject to regulatory requirements. Refer to the FNS Financial Services Training Package Companion Volume Implementation Guide or the relevant regulator for specific guidance on requirements.

Course Structure

This qualification consists of 14 units of competency including 3 core units and 11 elective units.

Assessment Methods

Assessment is structured throughout the course. If students are unable to achieve competency, additional support is provided through mentoring and access to re-assessment as outlined in our policies and procedures. Assessment requires achievement across all tasks to demonstrate competence and may include:

Written questioning and Exercises
Oral questioning
Project
Case Study analysis
Written Reports
Demonstration
Presentation
Role Play

Future Pathway

Students who complete this qualification can continue their studies by advancing to higher education qualifications.

Those who wish to use the skills gained in the qualification in the workplace, can find themselves moving into roles such as:

Senior Accountant
Director of Accounting and Financial Services
Financial Controller
Payroll or Accounts Manager
Management Accountant.

REQUIREMENTS

NCCS course entry requirements are following:

Must be over the age of 18 years

Must have completed FNS50222 Diploma of Accounting; or its superseded version FNS50217 Diploma of Accounting or equivalent, provided the listed elective unit BSBTEC402 Design and produce complex spreadsheets (or equivalent) has been completed by those seeking to enrol.

Following are the pre-requisite units in this qualification:

FNSACC522 Prepare tax documentation for individuals is a prerequisite for the unit ‘FNSACC601 Prepare and administer tax documentation for legal entities’

FNSACC524 Prepare financial reports for corporate entities is a prerequisite for the unit ‘FNSACC614 Prepare complex corporate financial reports’

The pre-requisites requirements are met through the entry requirements of the course.

English Language Entry Requirements

All students must be able to provide evidence (completed within the last 2 years) of:

English language proficiency of Upper-Intermediate, or

IELTS score 5.5 or equivalent, or

Successfully passed the English Placement Test at the College, or

Australian qualification equivalent to a minimum of Diploma level or a substantial component of a course leading towards a Diploma or higher

Students enrolling directly to study Advanced Diploma at NCCS may also be requested to complete an in house English Placement Test
