Diploma of Information Technology (Cyber Security) at the National Institute of Technology is a practical, hands-on qualification aimed at equipping you with the essential skills and knowledge required to a become well-rounded cybersecurity professional.
You will be exposed to popular technologies in IT Networking and cyber-security such as Windows and Linux operating systems; networking equipment including routers, switches, and wireless access points; Next-Gen Firewalls like FortiGate; SIEM/SOC platforms. The course also covers many concepts that will help you in your preparation for Cisco CCNA and Fortinet NSE4 certifications.
The course will provide you with training in several important cybersecurity skills such as:

Pathway to Higher Education and Universities
After you graduate from the National Institute of Technology with ICT50220 – Diploma of Information Technology (Cyber Security) qualification, you will be able to undertake a range of advanced diploma qualifications or an undergraduate degree at tertiary education providers.
You will be able to enter straight into NIT’s Advanced Diploma of Information Technology (Telecommunications Network Engineering) or Bachelor’s degree program at Murdoch University, Southern Cross University and Edith Cowan University.
REQUIREMENTS
International students must be 18 years or above before commencement of study at NIT.
To meet the academic entry requirements, you must meet one of the following:
- A minimum of Year 12 or equivalent qualification; or
- Year 11 or equivalent plus either a minimum 1 year of relevant work experience or a relevant accredited or non-accredited course; or
- Successful completion of Certificate IV level or a higher qualification
English Language Proficiency
- Overall score of 5.5; not less than 5.0
- An equivalent score in another English Language Proficiency Test acceptable by the National Institute of Technology:
- TOEFL iBT:Overall 46; not less than 4 in listening and reading and not less than 14 in writing and speaking test
- PTE Academic – Overall 42; not less than 36 in each test
- C1 Advanced (CAE): 162; B2 First (First Certificate of English (FCE): 160
- Occupational English Test: Grade B for each test component OR
- An alternative English language proficiency evidence that is acceptable by National Institute of Technology.
