Designed to equip you with in-depth knowledge of this essential field, the Bachelor of Professional Communication reflects the workplace reality of increasing demand for professional communication roles and functions.

With the RMIT Bachelor of Professional Communication in Melbourne, you can choose either a double major or to specialise in one and choose three minors from our broad range of multidisciplinary areas. Majors include:

Public Relations
Digital Communication

The degree has been uniquely designed to integrate creative production, conceptual analysis and critical reflection with professional industry knowledge to produce contemporary communication specialists who are creative, socially aware and multi-skilled.

Your educational journey begins with a solid foundation through our carefully crafted introductory block, ensuring you make informed choices as you advance in the program. From there, you have the flexibility to specialise in a single major, Advertising, Public Relations or Digital Communication, or expand your expertise with a double major. You will also select from a diverse array of minors that align with your career aspirations.

Throughout the degree, students are equipped with the valuable knowledge and skills to stay at the forefront of industry developments and thrive in the ever-changing landscape of professional communication practice.

At the end of the degree, the portfolio of work that you create will demonstrate your capacity to produce, operate and innovate in a range of industry sectors. You will be able to show that you are a technologically fluent communication professional who is highly adaptable to evolving roles in a global communication context.

Career

As a graduate of the Bachelor of Professional Communication you can expect to work as an advertising creative or strategist; as a digital communication coordinator or content and digital manager; as a public relations consultant or media adviser. You will also be prepared for a transformative role in the diverse and growing field of professional communication.

New jobs in Advertising, Digital Communication and Public Relations are emerging as the result of disruptions and megatrends in the field of professional communication. These roles have formed due to the high demand for specialised knowledge in areas including social media, web analytics, community engagement, risk and crisis management, artificial intelligence (AI) and automation.
