COURSE DESCRIPTION
The Bachelor of Business course with Accounting major provides students with a broad understanding of the accounting theory and practices at AQF Level 7. SCI students majoring in accounting will have broad understanding of the concepts and practices of accounting, supported by related areas in finance, law, economics, marketing, information systems, management and statistics.
The major focuses on preparing students for accounting careers in contemporary business environment, specifically preparing students for management roles in the accounting industry. The major aims to equip students with decision-making and critical analysis skills required in a professional accountancy practice, as well as a variety of functional areas within business.
COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
The Bachelor of Business Course has the following learning outcomes that are consistent with the AQF Level 7 qualification:
Demonstrate an advanced understanding of theories, principles, and concepts relevant to the broad field of business
Communicate effectively with diverse business stakeholders in technologised, written and face to face contexts
Be self-directed and critically reflective in business contexts requiring collaborative and independent work
Apply specialised field knowledge and technical skills to develop and evaluate business solutions in a range of Accounting contexts
Source, generate and synthesise relevant information to support evidence-based Accounting decision-making processes and lifelong learning
Recognise the relationship between Accounting profession and society through practicing socially responsible and sustainable management that benefits diverse communities
REQUIREMENTS
At least one of the following academic entry criteria must be met by an International applicant for the undergraduate course:
i. HSC/Year 12 certificate or a minimum ATAR of 65 or equivalent or an international equivalent qualification recognised by National Office for Overseas Skills Recognition (NOOSR)
ii. Satisfactory completion of an authorized Tertiary Preparation Program, Tertiary Orientation Program, or a Foundation Year Program through an accredited higher education institution. provided at
- Australian Universities;
- TAFE Institutes;
- Government approved Registered Training Organizations (RTOs); An approved foreign provider recognised by NOOSR.
iii. Satisfactory completion of one year of accredited full-time study in the associated discipline at Certificate IV or greater level at a licensed Australian supplier of tertiary education, as follows:
Certificate IV;Diploma of Business; Advanced Diploma; Vocational Graduate Certificate; Vocational Graduate Diploma; Associate Degree; Bachelors’ Degree.
iv. Satisfactory completion of one year of accredited full-time study in an associated discipline at Certificate IV or greater level at an accredited foreign education provider as recognised by NOOSR.
An International English Language Testing System (IELTS) overall academic score of 6.0 or higher with no band lower than 5.5 or equivalent score from an approved English language higher education entry testing system; or
Successful completion of an approved English for Academic Purposes (EAP) course
