COURSE DESCRIPTION

Acquire the skills and knowledge to gain a career in community and/or residential aged care facilities (Disability Services). Learn to provide personal care to people who may require support due to disability. Be trained in safety procedures and the legal and ethical framework of this sector.

Course Content

Students must successfully complete the following units:

  • CHCCOM005 – Communicate and work in health or community services
  • CHCDIV001 – Work with diverse people
  • CHCCCS023 – Support independence and well being
  • HLTAAP001 – Recognise healthy body systems
  • CHCLEG001 – Work legally and ethically
  • HLTWHS002 – Follow safe work practices for direct client care
  • CHCCCS015 – Provide individualised support
  • HLTINF001 – Comply with infection prevention and control policies and procedures
  • HLTAID011 – Provide First Aid
  • CHCDIS001 – Contribute to ongoing skills development using a strengths-based approach
  • CHCDIS002 – Follow established person-centred behaviour supports
  • CHCDIS003 – Support community participation and social inclusion
  • CHCDIS007 – Facilitate the empowerment of people with disability

Further Studies

On completion of the CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support, students may also pursue a CHC43015 Certificate IV in Ageing Support at Stanley College other CRICOS registered training organisations.

REQUIREMENTS

Academic

Completion of Australian Year 10 or equivalent

English Proficiency

Intermediate Level of English

IELTS Test Score of 5.0

Other recognised English Language tests such as:

  • PTE Academic: 36
  • Cambridge English: 154
  • OET: D Grade
  • Duolingo English Test: 75-80
  • CEFR Levels / Oxford Test: B1

Completion of Australian qualifications, evidence of certificate III level or above
