COURSE DESCRIPTION
The Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing) will give you the skills to work as an aged care worker in the expanding aged care industry. You will learn how to care for clients, create relationships, network with the community and practice professionalism. You will complete work placement and experience career satisfaction as you support elderly people to maintain independence and achieve their personal goals in a residential setting.
TAFE NSW has worked with industry partners to create this Aged Care qualification, and our strong relationship with communities and relevant medical bodies means you will graduate with confidence.
Through theory and practical course work, you will learn to:
Empower clients to reach their goals
Provide information and advice to clients
Provide tailored support to clients with diverse needs
Create safe and supportive practices
Work with clients with impairments
TAFE NSW is known for delivering theory along with practical learning. You will strengthen your practical skills in providing safe and beneficial care and sharpen your specialisation in aiding aged people, including learning to:
Provide First Aid responses including CPR in an emergency
Support relationships with carers and family
Meet personal care needs
Work safely with manual handling skills
Uphold legal and ethical standards in a residential aged care setting

REQUIREMENTS
Year 10 or equivalent
English Language Requirements:
Academic IELTS 5.5 or TOEFL (iBT) 46 or equivalent
Or Completion of a TAFE NSW General English Program
