COURSE DESCRIPTION

The Diploma of Community Services builds on your core competency, develops your specialised skills and equips you for a rewarding career in the community services sector.

Learn to develop and implement service programs and trauma-informed care, analyse the impact of sociological factors on clients, and facilitate workplace debriefing and support processes. Depending on the elective subjects you choose, you may also learn to coordinate complex case requirements, assess co-existing needs, and identify and respond to children and young people at risk.

This course provides you with job-ready skills and advanced knowledge to work effectively as a caseworker or manager, welfare worker, team leader or domestic violence officer in the community.

Through theory and practical course work, you will learn to:

Develop, facilitate and review all aspects of case management
Provide case management supervision
Develop workplace communication strategies
Undertake case management in a child protection framework
Develop social housing enterprise opportunities
Provide systems advocacy services
Assess the needs of clients with alcohol and other drug issues

Year 10 or equivalent

English Language Requirements:

Academic IELTS 5.5 or TOEFL (iBT) 46 or equivalent
Or Completion of a TAFE NSW General English Program
