COURSE DESCRIPTION

The Diploma of Laboratory Technology (Pathology) prepares graduates to work unsupervised in pathology labs in both the government and private sector. This is an important medical profession, and your work as a lab technician or officer plays a vital role in assisting medical diagnoses and informing treatment decisions.

This qualification takes into account the rapid integration of future technologies such as robotics and artificial intelligence to equip you with the knowledge you need to flourish in the laboratory. The amount of laboratory work needed for quality assurance services has grown substantially, meaning there will always be a strong demand for qualified technicians.

At TAFE NSW Granville this is a 9 month, intensive program that has been developed in consultation with industry so you will gain the expertise that employers are looking for.

Through theory and practical course work you will learn to:

Process and interpret data
Use laboratory application software

Maintain and calibrate instruments and equipment
Monitor the quality of test results and data

At TAFE NSW Granville Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques (MSL40118LT)

English Language Requirements:

Academic IELTS 5.5 or TOEFL (iBT) 46 or equivalent
Or Completion of a TAFE NSW General English Program
