COURSE DESCRIPTION

Establish your landscaping career with this high-level course. Develop the advanced skills and knowledge required to become a landscape designer.

According to the Australian Government’s Job Outlook service, the number of people working as landscape gardeners grew strongly over the past five years. The industry is expected to see strong future growth, ensuring your skills will be in high demand when you graduate.

You will learn how to research, survey, assess, plan, design, cost, and manage residential, commercial and industrial landscape projects. You will also develop a strong understanding of the underlying principles of design, the design process, industry best practice, plant selection and placement, as well as proficient CAD skills. Our highly experienced staff are strongly embedded in the industry and will give you the one-on-one guidance you need to succeed.

Successful completion of this course will qualify you to work as a landscape designer. You can also enhance your career prospects by continuing on with further study in this area.

REQUIREMENTS

Academic Requirements: Completion of Year 12 (or equivalent). Non school-leavers must have relevant work experience or qualification that indicates likely success of course completion.

International students who are under 18 years of age and are applying for a student visa are required by the Australian Government Department of Home Affairs to have adequate welfare arrangements in place.

Academic IELTS 5.5 (no individual band less than 5.0) or ISLPR 2+ on all skills or other; iBT score of 46 with 8 in Reading /7 in Learning and 18 in writing /16 in speaking; PTE Academic (Pearson Test of English) overall score of 42 with Reading /Learning /writing /speaking score of 36; Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) score of 162.

The TAFE Queensland network is made up of six regions delivering training from Thursday Island to the Gold Coast, from Bundaberg to Roma and across the south-east corner. From the vast roster of courses, international students can choose to apply to over 170 courses in subjects as varied as Accounting, Electronics, Beauty Therapy and Commercial Cooking.
