COURSE DESCRIPTION

The COVID-19 pandemic has forced us all to adapt to new ways of working – at this time more than ever before, rethinking workspace design is crucial for employee productivity, safety, connectedness and wellbeing. Evaluation is a critical examination methodology which can play a role of the journey towards better workspace design decisions. This course enables People & Culture and other leadership professionals to apply evaluation knowledge and skills to help build healthier, fit-for-purpose workspaces. Explore how workspaces impact employee wellbeing: Discover how workspace design can influence employee productivity, create a sense of belonging, and enhance overall health and wellbeing. Examine contemporary design trends and discussions, and consider how these apply to your own workspace context. Gain the skills to plan effective evaluations: Develop a fundamental understanding of evaluation – a critical examination methodology – and how it can be applied to workspace design. Learn to plan evaluations using key information including workforce (user) attributes, organisational context, environmental context and design process. Discover tools and methods to conduct evaluations: Understand how to select the appropriate evaluation approaches, methods and tools for your setting, and how to conduct evaluations in credible and ethical ways. Learn to formulate appropriate evaluation questions and evaluation indicators, and how to engage key stakeholders in the process. Put theory into practice in your own organisation: Drawing on theories of change management, you’ll explore strategies to optimise how evaluation is used by decision makers. You’ll also translate your knowledge into practice by identifying how evaluation can be applied within your own organisation, ultimately leading to better workspace design.

Skills and learning outcomes: By the end of this course, you’ll have an enhanced understanding of evaluation and its impact on workspace design. You’ll be able to: Define and discuss the multiple purposes, challenges and benefits of evaluation for existing and future workspace design to optimise productivity, connectivity and wellbeing of employees. Critically review alignment between workspace design evaluation questions, approaches and methods; Apply evaluation approaches and methods to inform future workspace design optimise productivity, connectivity and wellbeing of employees.
