COURSE DESCRIPTION

A behavioural scientist values human diversity and knows how to work collaboratively with individuals, groups and communities to advance their goals. This major looks at how people respond to various challenges in their careers, family or community life. Our students use specialist knowledge developed in the disciplines of psychology, sociology, political science and cultural studies to promote overall social wellbeing.

Why study this major?

The Behavioural Science Major is based on the premise that everyone is entitled to social justice and equity and is concerned with the practical application of this premise to all aspects of human interaction. The Major equips you to promote social justice and equity, focussing on the strengths and competencies of individuals and communities. The Major promotes the concept of wellbeing for the individual person and the many and varied groups that he or she might belong to, as well as advocating for social justice at the political, cultural and economic levels of society. You will use specialist knowledge developed in the disciplines of psychology, sociology, political science and cultural studies to promote overall social wellbeing.

Our graduates may follow diverse career paths in the private and public sectors, with many working in community development, youth work, policy development, and corporate liaison.

REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must meet High school qualifications (or equivalent) to apply for undergraduate program. Academic minimum entry requirements for international applicants vary from country to country.

IELTS (Academic) – 6.5 overall, with no individual band score lower than 6.0; CAE/CPE – 176 overall, with no individual band score lower than 169; PTE Academic – 58 overall, with no individual band score lower than 50; TOEFL (iBT) – 84 overall, with no score lower than 21 in writing and no other band score lower than 17.
