Completed over four years of full-time study, this program combines a comprehensive coverage of legal and ethical principles, as well as the skills to apply these principles in legal practice.
Why study this degree?
Although it can be challenging, the legal profession is also an immensely rewarding one. At The University of Notre Dame Australia, we have worked with leading judges, senior barristers and solicitors to design a quality degree that is both rigorous, ethical, practical and relevant to the current Australian legal landscape.
The Bachelor of Laws program gives students a solid grounding in legal theory and practice, and the opportunity to hone their negotiation, advocacy and mooting skills. Through our Legal Clinic, mentoring program, courtroom visits, mooting and internship programs, our law students are provided with multiple opportunities to experience the law in practice. Students are also encouraged to learn outside of the classroom, by attending seminars and professional development events such as our Eminent Speakers Series. This prestigious forum connects students and graduates with leading experts in the discussion of contemporary legal and professional matters.
Notre Dame is the only university in Australia that contains a historic, fully functioning courthouse for student use. Known as the oldest surviving courthouse in Fremantle, the Justice Owen Moot Court has been restored by the University community and now provides students with the perfect setting to perfect their advocacy and mooting skills.

Our Law degrees are accredited by the New South Wales Legal Profession Admission Board.
The Bachelor of Laws has a particular focus on the basic building blocks of the law (the legally required “Priestley” subjects) and on developing practical skills such as public speaking, advocacy, alternative dispute resolution and commercial practice skills. Through the mentoring and internship programs students are provided with many opportunities to experience the law in practice.
All of our academics at the School of Law have a substantial amount of experience in legal practice (as solicitors, environmental law experts, barristers, judges or canon lawyers). This allows students to learn not just the legal principles but how they apply in legal practice.
We know that students find the environment at Notre Dame’s School of Law both stimulating and rewarding. According to a recent QILT (Quality Indicators for Learning and Teaching) survey Notre Dame ranked first out of all law schools in NSW and Western Australia for Overall Quality of Educational Experience, Teaching Quality, Overall Leaner Engagement and Student Support.

REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must meet High school qualifications (or equivalent) to apply for undergraduate program. Academic minimum entry requirements for international applicants vary from country to country.
IELTS (Academic) – 7.5 overall, with no score lower than 7.5 in writing and no other band score lower than 7.0; CAE/CPE – 191 overall, with no score lower than 191 in writing and no other band score lower than 185; PTE Academic – 76 overall, with no score lower than 76 in writing and no other band score lower than 68; TOEFL (iBT) – 105 overall, with no score lower than 28 in writing and no other band score lower than 24.
