A major in Exercise and Health Science ensures you will graduate with a broad knowledge and understanding in the area of exercise and health. When taken with the Sport Science major where Sport Science is the degree-specific major, this combination leads to accreditation as an exercise scientist. Your knowledge and skills also complement other science areas, potentially leading to postgraduate professional training.

This major develops your knowledge and skills in the exercise and health domain, with relevant training for careers in the health education, exercise rehabilitation, health service delivery, and fitness industries.
Career Pathways
Employment opportunities exist in the professions of healthy lifestyle programming for the community and industry, sports development, health and fitness coordination and program management, and as an Exercise Scientist. You may decide to move on to specialised postgraduate qualifications in education, teaching, rehabilitation, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, corporate training, recreation management, health promotion, medicine or work health and safety.
Further Study
Honours in Sport Science, Exercise and Health provides you with interdisciplinary research skills and advanced knowledge in a select sub-discipline area (exercise physiology/biochemistry, biomechanics, motor development, exercise and health psychology or activity promotion). The honours specialisation provides an ideal background for continuance to a PhD or other professional-based research degrees.
You will gain a greater depth of knowledge in your area of specialisation, while also developing research skills. You will learn to plan, administer testing, analyse and present data both in written and oral formats. You’ll learn to prepare a written manuscript for peer-reviewed publications as well as independent time and work management skills and to develop leadership potential. You’ll also gain advanced computer, problem-solving and organisational skills.
REQUIREMENTS
Entry requirements may vary from country to country. Students are required to complete an international academic qualification equivalent to Australian High School (or equivalent).
English language requirements:
IELTS (academic): Overall minimum score of 6.5, no band lower than 6.0
TOEFL Internet-based TOEFL (iBT): an overall score of 82 or above with a minimum score of 22 in writing, 18 in reading, 20 in speaking and 20 in listening
Pearsons Test of English (PTE) (academic): An overall score of 64 with a minimum score of 59 in the speaking and writing sections, and no less than 54 in the other sections
