COURSE DESCRIPTION

The Integrated Medical Sciences and Clinical Practice major draws on all biomedical scientific disciplines to understand and treat human disease. The major prepares you for continued study in the Doctor of Medicine through a Assured Pathway.

This extended major is only available to students who are offered a Assured Pathway to the Doctor of Medicine at time of admission. The Integrated Medical Sciences and Clinical Practice (IMSCP) major will encompass a wide range of disciplines within health and medical sciences. It will provide you with the background knowledge across all the biomedical scientific disciplines including anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, genetics, immunology, haematology, microbiology, pathology, pharmacology and public health.

Career Pathways

The Integrated Medical Sciences and Clinical Practice major ensures you gain a strong and thorough knowledge base across all biomedical scientific disciplines including anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, genetics, immunology, haematology, microbiology, pathology, pharmacology and public health.

This knowledge base is designed for students on a Assured Pathway into the Doctor of Medicine postgraduate degree which aims to produce graduates committed to the wellbeing of the patient, community and society as responsible, accountable, scholarly, capable and caring doctors.

Further Study

Following graduation from the MD, further studies can be undertaken with a professional college for specialisation in a medical discipline. Graduates can also enrol in the academic Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma, Master’s or Doctorate courses, including but not limited to:

Master of Public Health, Graduate Certificate in Health Professions Education, Graduate Diploma in Health Professions Education, Master of Health Professions Education, Graduate Certificate in Rural and Remote Medicine, Doctor of Philosophy.

REQUIREMENTS

Entry requirements may vary from country to country. Students are required to complete an international academic qualification equivalent to Australian High School (or equivalent).

English language requirements:

IELTS (academic): Overall minimum score of 6.5, no band lower than 6.0

TOEFL Internet-based TOEFL (iBT): an overall score of 82 or above with a minimum score of 22 in writing, 18 in reading, 20 in speaking and 20 in listening

Pearsons Test of English (PTE) (academic): An overall score of 64 with a minimum score of 59 in the speaking and writing sections, and no less than 54 in the other sections
