The Graduate Diploma in Strategic Communication focuses on advancing the skills, knowledge and capabilities required to successfully participate in the contemporary communications environment.
This course focuses on the advanced skill, knowledge and capabilities required to participate in the contemporary communications environment in industry, government agencies and community organisations. You’ll develop the practical skills and understanding relevant to developing effective communication strategy and managing communication projects across digital and traditional media formats.

Postgraduate coursework degrees and combined (coursework and research) degrees comprise a number of units.

Career opportunities in the communications sector are constantly growing. Almost all large organisations need a communications expert to advise on corporate communications, community liaison projects and human resources-based projects such as change management. In addition, private organisations in consumer marketing, media, public relations, advertising and digital communications require strategic communications specialists.
Further Study
Upon successfully completing your course, you can choose to progress to the master’s degree in Strategic Communication. Depending on your circumstances, this may be subject to you achieving a course weighted average mark of 65 per cent. If you do enrol in the Master of Strategic Communication, you will receive (subject to conditions) full credit for units completed in your graduate diploma.
REQUIREMENTS
(1) To be considered for admission to this course an applicant must have—(a) a Bachelor’s degree, or an equivalent qualification, as recognised by UWA; and(b) the equivalent of a UWA weighted average mark of at least 50 per cent; or(2) completed a Graduate Certificate in Strategic Communication at UWA.
English language requirements:
TOEFL (paper-based): 570 with a Test of Written English (TWE) of no less than 4.5
IBT TOEFL (Internet-based test score): 82 with 22 for writing, 20 for speaking, 20 for listening, and 18 for reading
IELTS (Academic): 6.5 (no band lower than 6.0)
Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English: C pass
Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English: B grade
Pearson Test of English (PTE) (Academic): Overall score of 64 with a minimum score of 64 in the Reading and Writing sections, 59 in the Speaking section and 54 in the Listening section
