COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course has been developed in consultation with industry to equip you with the advanced technical expertise, critical thinking and professional skills required to remain competitive in a global workforce. Focus on your chosen field of engineering to further your career options. For example, students interested in a career in the growing renewable energy sector can opt to specialise in chemical engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering or mechanical engineering. By choosing the discipline that most interests you, you will not only gain a deep understanding of the discipline from a holistic engineering perspective, but undertake units relevant to your area of interest.
This course is a professionally accredited engineering degree for students who have completed undergraduate studies in engineering. You’ll specialise in a program of engineering and undertake advanced engineering technical units, professional units, design and research projects, and undertake a 12-week professional practicum.
Course structure
Postgraduate coursework degrees and combined (coursework and research) degrees comprise a number of units.

The Master of Professional Engineering unlocks a wide range of career opportunities in engineering and non-engineering sectors in Australia and overseas. Your options for employment will be varied with work available in the energy and resources industry, pharmaceutical manufacturing, construction, power and water utilities, management and consultancy firms, and electronics, finance and telecommunications industries.
Further Study
Further study will allow you to gain a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD). It will open up opportunities in academia and research to help you pursue your goals in a wide range of careers, depending on your area of research.
REQUIREMENTS
(a) a UWA bachelor’s degree with a major in MJD-ENGSC Engineering Science1 or Bachelor of Automation and Robotics; or(b) a bachelor’s degree, or an equivalent qualification, as recognised by UWA; and(i) the equivalent of a UWA weighted average mark of at least 65 per cent; and(ii) prior studies in engineering, physics or mathematics; or(c) completed units in the Master of Professional Engineering Preliminary course at UWA as prescribed by the School of Engineering; or(d) completed a UWA Diploma in Science with a major in MJD-ENGSC Engineering Science11 Students are required to achieve a course weighted average mark of at least 50 per cent in their bachelor’s degree or a weighted average mark of at least 50 per cent in the Level 3 units of the Engineering Science major.
English language requirements:
TOEFL (paper-based): 570 with a Test of Written English (TWE) of no less than 4.5
IBT TOEFL (Internet-based test score): 82 with 22 for writing, 20 for speaking, 20 for listening, and 18 for reading
IELTS (Academic): 6.5 (no band lower than 6.0)
Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English: C pass
Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English: B grade
Pearson Test of English (PTE) (Academic): Overall score of 64 with a minimum score of 64 in the Reading and Writing sections, 59 in the Speaking section and 54 in the Listening section
