COURSE DESCRIPTION

Advanced Diploma of Leadership and Management is designed to prepare you to work in senior leadership and management positions in a broad range of industries. The course will help you to cultivate your talents in taking initiative and judgment to plan and implement a range of leadership and management functions, with accountability for personal and team outcomes within broad parameters. You will be guided how to use your cognitive and communication skills to identify, analyse and synthesise information from a variety of sources and use conceptual skills to express ideas and perspectives or respond to complex problems.

In this course, you will learn a broad range of core subjects designed to develop your advanced leadership and management competencies including but not limited to leading and managing organisational change, developing and implementing a business plan, managing innovation and continuous improvement and applying critical thinking for complex problem solving. In addition, you will also learn how to develop organisational strategies, lead corporate social responsibility, review organisational digital strategy and contribute to strategic workforce planning and the development of diversity and inclusion strategies.

The course is most suited for individuals who are currently or are aspired to be in the position of the Area Managers, Department Managers, or Regional Managers in small, medium or large firms in both the public and private sector.

Academic Pathways:

On completion of this course, you are qualified to progress to undertake a range of other graduate diploma qualifications from the BSB Business Services Training Package or any other training package to further enhance their career opportunities in their chosen field. You may also choose to seek entry into an undergraduate degree such as a Bachelor of Business at an Australian Higher Education Provider (subject to the Higher Education Provider’s course entry requirements). Coupled with substantial leadership and management experience (more than two years) graduates of this course may be eligible to gain entry into a number of post-graduate courses such as Graduate Certificate in Management, a graduate diploma in management (learning) or Master of Business Administration.

Employment Pathways:

With this qualification, you are confident and ready to seek rewarding senior leadership and management positions in a small, medium or large enterprise, in a variety of industries, in both the public and private sector. Graduates with no prior work experience should expect to enter the industry in positions such as Administration Officer, Administration Coordinator or other related position. Graduates with substantial work experience could obtain positions such as Area Manager, Department Manager or Regional Manager.

REQUIREMENTS

International students must meet TWI’s standards for English proficiency. To demonstrate possession of adequate English language proficiency, students must provide valid evidence of attainment of at least one of the following:

  • Academic IELTS (International English Language Testing System) overall band score: 5.5, but minimum 5.0 in individual band (test results must be no more than 2-years-old).
  • TOEFL iBT (Test of English as a Foreign Language Internet-Based Test) test score band: 46
  • PTE Academic (Pearson Test of English) test score band: 42
  • CAE (Cambridge English Advanced) test score band: 162
  • OET (Occupational English Test) test score band: Pass (A or B)

In addition to that, students are exempt from providing evidence of English language proficiency with their visa application if they fall into one of the following categories:

  • Students who have completed at least five years of study in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, South Africa or the Republic of Ireland.
  • Citizens and passport holders of the UK, USA, Canada, New Zealand or the Republic of Ireland.
  • Students who have successfully completed the Senior Secondary Certificate of Education or study at AQF Certificate IV level or higher in Australia within two years of applying for this qualification.
  • Students enrolled full-time in school studies as a principal course (including secondary exchange programs), postgraduate research or a standalone ELICOS program.
  • Foreign Affairs or Defence sponsored students.
