COURSE DESCRIPTION

This qualification reflects the role of educators in early childhood education and care who work in regulated children’s education and care services in Australia. They support children’s wellbeing, and development in the context of an approved learning framework. Educators use a range of well-developed skills and knowledge using discretion and judgment when carrying out their work in the context of established policies and procedures. They may work independently or under the guidance of others, though in some contexts that guidance may not be on-site.

Early childhood educators work in long day care centres, family day care, pre-schools or kindergartens.

Work Placement

Student are required to complete mandatory Professional Experience Placement total of least 160 hours of work in a regulated children’s

education and care service in Australia as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of units of competency, as a part of this qualification.

Students who successfully complete this Program may undertake:

CHC40221 Certificate IV in School Based Education Support

CHC50121 Diploma of Early Education Childhood Education and Care

Your Career

This course provides you with the skills and knowledge to undertake job roles such as:

  • Childhood Educator Assistant
  • Outside School Hours Aide
  • Preschool Assistant

Offsite Training

TMG College Australia can deliver training and undertake assessments using facilities at a Students Workplace, or in a mobile manner (e.g. delivery at a regional/remote location for a specific period or for a specific training course).

REQUIREMENTS

Intended overseas students must satisfy the following requirements:

  • Age: Must be 18 years or over
  • English proficiency level: An IELTS Band 5.5 or equivalent OR undertake a TMG College Australia English language test
  • Successful completion of Year 12 or its equivalent

Students are required to undertake a Language Literacy, Numeracy and Digital Literacy Assessment. These will assist with identification of any support needs.

The ability to obtain a Working with Children Check – Working with Children Check & Police Check required for industry work placement.
