COURSE DESCRIPTION

Extend your skills in the industry through composition and arrangement and launch your career with an expertly produced performance!

You’ll combine music composition with sound engineering and master music and sound production.

The mixture of music theory and hands-on studio experience in our state-of-the-art studios and labs will bring your ideas to life.

The music business units will introduce you to the industry to become your own music producer.

TRAINING OUTCOMES

Trimester One

Foundation

You will learn how to:

  • Create simple musical pieces
  • Develop techniques for arranging music
  • Compose music for screen
  • Work safely in the creative arts industry

Trimester Two

Music Production

You will learn how to:

  • Record and produce sound
  • Compose electronic music
  • Produce and promote music
  • Start your music production business

Trimester Three

Sound Design

You will learn how to:

  • Mix and edit recorded music
  • Create a final balance
  • Develop sound designs
  • Implement sound designs

Trimester Four

Music and Business

You will learn how to:

  • Engage in the music business industry
  • Apply your knowledge of music to your own practice

Trimester Five

Extend

You will learn how to:

  • Extend techniques for analysing and arranging music
  • Extend techniques for composing music

Trimester Six

Perform

You will learn how to:

  • Plan and present music performances
  • Manage stagecraft aspects of performances

REQUIREMENTS

This course is available to International Students who are able to provide evidence that they:

  • Are over the age of 18.
  • Have completed year 12 or equivalent.
  • Have completed Year 12 English at an Australian secondary school or college, or equivalent.
  • If you have completed a qualification where English was the primary language of instruction, you may be eligible for an English language exemption.
  • IELTS, TOEFL, PTE and CAE: These tests must be taken no more than two years prior to application.
  • Meet one of the following English proficiency requirements:
    • a valid IELTS score of 5.5 or other minimum test scores
    • that they have successfully completed their Year 12 or equivalent in English Language.
