COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course takes advantage of the strengths of a business-oriented degree while meeting the contemporary organisational leadership needs of the 21st Century. The course is geared toward individuals who are preparing themselves to be leaders of tomorrow whether in government, church, military, statutory, non-profit or commercial organisations. This course recognises students’ professional background by granting full credit for any previous studies, training and work experience, and thereby helping students take the step into tertiary education. The UNE Bachelor of Organisational Leadership brings together a highly structured, well-rounded program that concentrates on managerial issues ranging from leadership to organisational change, ethics and strategic planning. Choose from units that allows you to learn how to develop, structure and present successful business proposals or study communication between people of differing cultural backgrounds in different social and professional contexts. Alternatively, add a unit on accounting and finance for business or employment relations.
Course Aims: The Bachelor of Organisational Leadership aims to develop the knowledge, skills and attributes of professionals engaged in leading organisational activities and performance.
Learning Outcomes:
demonstrate knowledge of contemporary management and leadership theory and processes, and understanding of real-world business-related issues in order to promote sustainable enterprises in a globalised economy, and apply that knowledge to scholarly work;
utilise cognitive and communication skills, tools and digital technologies to communicate appropriately and persuasively with a range of stakeholders;
apply critical and creative thinking to analyse complex real-world business-related problems and synthesise materials from a variety of sources in identifying solutions;
identify relevant information drawn from a range of sources in order to analyse data and complex business-related issues;
evaluate and demonstrate judgement in formulating responses to complex, social, cultural and ethical issues in a range of contexts;
demonstrate a preparedness to engage in continuous learning and reflection to develop new insights into professional practice; and
illustrate skills in working autonomously and with others to generate solutions and show a capacity to function as a leader, including the ability to collaborate in a range of contexts to achieve individual and common goals.
REQUIREMENTS
This course may not be undertaken concurrently with, or upon successful completion of, UNE Bachelor of Training and Development.
A candidate shall submit a Statement of Service from their employer (on company letterhead) documenting relevant work experience; and
(a) hold an AQF Level 6 Advanced Diploma qualification in a relevant discipline from a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) and at least three years’ relevant work experience; or (b) hold an AQF Level 5 Diploma qualification in a relevant discipline from a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) and at least four years’ relevant work experience
Relevant discipline will include business, management or any other discipline approved by the course coordinator. Relevant work experience refers to a position of responsibility in any organisational or industry context.
An IELTS (Academic) overall score of at least 6.0 with no sub-band less than 5.5; or equivalent TOEFL score of at least 213 in the computer-based test; or at least 79 in the internet-based test with no less than 22 in the written component; or a PTE Academic minimum overall score of 57 with no skill less than 50.
EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTION
The University of New England was originally formed in 1938 as the New England University College, a College of the University of Sydney. It became fully independent in 1954. The university is located on several sites in Armidale, NSW. All the programs are offered via the four faculties: Arts; Economics, Business and Law; Education, Health and Professional Studies; and The Sciences; these faculties incorporate 18 teaching schools. Research is offered in the areas of rural science, agricultural economics, geology, educational administration, linguistics, archaeology, etc.
