This course provides students with the key skills to be an effective manager in any organisational context. The course comprises four units, one of which is prescribed, and others that are drawn from a range of areas, including accounting, business analytics, economics, finance, human resource management, management or marketing enabling you to tailor the degree to suit your work and career goals. This degree serves as an exit point for the Master of Business Administration and the Master of Strategic Organisational Development and Human Resource Management.
Course Aims
The Graduate Certificate in Management is designed for working professionals seeking to broaden their skills and expand their opportunities within or beyond their current field of employment. The award sets out to provide graduates with an understanding of some business disciplines and their embodied theory and principles, which enables them to effectively identify, analyse and resolve management issues. It also aims to provide an exit point for the Master of Business Administration and the Master of Strategic Organisational Development and Human Resource Management.
Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
demonstrate specialist knowledge of contemporary business and management theory in order to promote sustainable business in a globalised economy;
utilise specialist cognitive and communication skills, tools and digital technologies to communicate appropriately and persuasively with a range of stakeholders;
demonstrate well-developed ability to use creativity and judgement in analysing business problems to identify possible solutions;
identify, critically evaluate and synthesise relevant information drawn from a range of sources in order to analyse complex business related issues;
demonstrate high-level ability to critically evaluate and formulate responses to social, cultural and ethical issues in a range of organisational contexts;
demonstrate preparedness to pursue knowledge and understanding to enhance professional practice; and
illustrate specialist skills in working autonomously and with others to generate solutions and show a capacity to function as a leader, including the ability to collaborate in a range of contexts to achieve individual and common goals.
REQUIREMENTS
A candidate shall
(a) hold an AQF Level 7 Bachelor qualification or above in a non-relevant discipline and at least two years full-time equivalent relevant professional experience; or
(b) hold an AQF Level 7 Bachelor qualification or above in a relevant discipline and at least two years of full-time equivalent relevant professional experience; or
(c) hold an approved AQF Level 6 Advanced Diploma in a relevant discipline from an Australian TAFE or Registered Training Organisation and have at least four years of full-time equivalent relevant professional experience; or
(d) hold an approved AQF Level 5 Diploma in a relevant discipline from an Australian TAFE or Registered Training Organisation and have at least six years of full-time equivalent relevant professional experience; or
(e) have at least five years of fulltime equivalent relevant professional experience
Relevant work experience refers to a position of responsibility in any organisation or industry context. Relevant disciplines include: Banking; Business; Finance; Human Resource Management; Leadership; Management; Marketing; Sales or any other discipline approved by the course coordinator.
An IELTS (Academic) overall score of at least 6.0 with no sub-band less than 5.5; or equivalent TOEFL score of at least 213 in the computer-based test; or at least 79 in the internet-based test with no less than 22 in the written component; or a PTE Academic minimum overall score of 57 with no skill less than 50.
EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTION
The University of New England was originally formed in 1938 as the New England University College, a College of the University of Sydney. It became fully independent in 1954. The university is located on several sites in Armidale, NSW. All the programs are offered via the four faculties: Arts; Economics, Business and Law; Education, Health and Professional Studies; and The Sciences; these faculties incorporate 18 teaching schools. Research is offered in the areas of rural science, agricultural economics, geology, educational administration, linguistics, archaeology, etc.
