COURSE DESCRIPTION

The Graduate Diploma in Accounting is designed to meet the needs of students seeking entry into the Master of Professional Accounting course as well as those who need eight units in accounting and finance to gain accreditation with the Professional Accounting Organisations. Students take eight units from the Master of Professional Accounting at an introductory level (if entering the program) or at a more advanced level to complete requirements for accreditation with the Professional Accounting Organisations.
1. Learning Outcomes: demonstrate advanced knowledge within the accounting discipline to undertake professional work in accounting, and demonstrate the ability to communicate that knowledge;
2. identify issues in accounting and finance, collect relevant data, critically evaluate a range of solutions to address complex problems and recommend the best course of action;
3. communicate effectively with both accounting and non-accounting professionals on complex accounting and finance issues;
4. make ethical decisions on issues relevant to accounting and finance, and demonstrate clear knowledge of your responsibility and accountability for the decisions and those of others involved in its implementation; and
5. integrate theoretical and technical accounting knowledge to demonstrate the ability to initiate, plan, implement and evaluate broad functions within specialised accounting contexts.

REQUIREMENTS

Entry is based on a bachelor qualification or Graduate Certificate in Accounting. English Language Requirements: An IELTS (Academic): overall score – 6.0, Listening, Reading, Writing, Speaking – 5.5; TOEFL Computer-based test overall score – 213, Internet-based test overall score -79, Writing – 22; Pearson PTE (Academic) overall score -57, Listening, Reading, Writing, Speaking – 50.

The University of New England was originally formed in 1938 as the New England University College, a College of the University of Sydney. It became fully independent in 1954. The university is located on several sites in Armidale, NSW. All the programs are offered via the four faculties: Arts; Economics, Business and Law; Education, Health and Professional Studies; and The Sciences; these faculties incorporate 18 teaching schools. Research is offered in the areas of rural science, agricultural economics, geology, educational administration, linguistics, archaeology, etc.
