COURSE DESCRIPTION
Neuroscience is one of the fastest growing areas of study in human physiology. Graduates of this program will have been given the opportunity to understand how the brain works to maintain human behaviour, what may go wrong in those neurobiological processes, and the ways that research and remediation may be undertaken within multi-disciplinary settings.
Graduates of the Master of Neuroscience may apply for admission to research higher degrees and other doctoral programs.
Course Aims
The Master of Neuroscience aims to provide students with the opportunity to study Neuroscience from a research or clinical perspective. The Master of Neuroscience will produce graduates with specialised knowledge of the specific neurobiological processes that underlie a range of behaviour.
Neuroscience is a diverse and rapidly growing field. With a postgraduate neuroscience qualification from UNE, your understanding of how the brain works, why behaviour occurs as it does, and how people may be helped to change, will give you an advantage in many fields of professional employment.

Depending on your other qualifications, you could consider opportunities in a range of settings, including:
- clinical psychology
- counselling, allied health
- medicine
- education
- biomedical research
- pharmaceutical development
- policy development in the public or private sectors
- behavioural and cognitive research.
REQUIREMENTS
A candidate shall:
(a) hold an AQF Level 7 Bachelor qualification in a relevant discipline; or
(b) hold an AQF Level 8 Graduate Certificate in a relevant discipline; or
(c) hold an AQF Level 8 Graduate Diploma or a Bachelor with Honours in a relevant discipline; or
(d) satisfy UNE by means of other relevant professional experience by submitting a Statement of Service from your employer/s and a resume outlining a minimum of three years” full-time (or equivalent) relevant professional experience and training taken in the past 10 years.
Relevant disciplines include, but are not limited to:
Science; Medicine; Psychology; Nursing; Social Work; Education; Health; Counselling; Other similar disciplines as determined by the course coordinator.
An IELTS (Academic) overall score of at least 6.0 with no sub-band less than 5.5; or equivalent TOEFL score of at least 213 in the computer-based test; or at least 79 in the internet-based test with no less than 22 in the written component; or a PTE Academic minimum overall score of 57 with no skill less than 50.

The University of New England was originally formed in 1938 as the New England University College, a College of the University of Sydney. It became fully independent in 1954. The university is located on several sites in Armidale, NSW. All the programs are offered via the four faculties: Arts; Economics, Business and Law; Education, Health and Professional Studies; and The Sciences; these faculties incorporate 18 teaching schools. Research is offered in the areas of rural science, agricultural economics, geology, educational administration, linguistics, archaeology, etc.
