COURSE DESCRIPTION
Overview
If you are an innovative, empathetic, and collaborative theatre practitioner, the Bachelor of Theatre (Theatre Making) will increase your competitive edge by teaching you how to make new dramatic works for entertainment, community-arts, education, health and the environmental agencies.
The Theatre Making major introduces you to the rigorous theory and practice in generating original work. Here, you will adapt theatre skills and processes for communities and educators, in order to deliver sustainable community-participatory creative arts projects.
In the final year of study, you will develop projects which provide authentic skills for a broad range of career pathways.
Further study
Upon successful completion of this degree, you can go on to study the Bachelor of Creative Arts (Honours).
Career outcomes
Our graduates work as award-winning playwrights and writers, nationally-acclaimed directors, celebrated comedians, speciality drama teachers, arts therapists actors; comedy sketch artists; community arts workers; Instagram and pod-cast artists; producers and production assistants; TV presenters; tour operators; videographers; youth arts workers and, with further qualifications, expert academics and drama teachers.
REQUIREMENTS
Applicant must have Australian year 12 level or equivalent.
Students from different country must have qualifications equivalent to Australia.
English language requirements
IELTS (Academic only) – Overall minimum score of 6.0 and no individual band score of less than 5.5; TOEFL (internet based) – Overall minimum score of 80 and no individual skills score of less than 19; Pearson (PTE Academic) – Overall score of 50 and no individual Communicative Skills score of less than 50; Cambridge C1 Advanced C2 Proficiency – Overall minimum score of 169 with no less than 162 in each skill.
