Overview
UniSQ’s Graduate Diploma of Science (Astrophysics) is designed for graduates from disciplines other than astronomical and space science to acquire skills and knowledge in physics and astronomy, and develop scientific research skills.
This specialisation can also provide professional development in science for those in educational or science communication careers.
You have the opportunity to explore galactic astrophysics and cosmology, planetary systems, stellar astrophysics, key concepts of physics, astronomy and observational astrophysics.
Topics may also include astrometry, photometry, spectroscopy, telescopes, optics, detectors and data analysis to advance your knowledge further.
Further study
This qualification is also ideal for those wishing to move into further study. Upon successful completion of the Graduate Diploma of Science, students have the potential to move into the Master of Science coursework degree if they meet other requirements for entry.
Career outcomes
As a graduate you may find career opportunities as a scientist working for industry or government, technician working in a laboratory or in the field, teacher (in combination with appropriate education studies) or self-employment providing scientific and/or technical services.
REQUIREMENTS
3-year Bachelor degree from an Australian university or equivalent.
or
equivalent professional work experience, as determined through the Credit and Exemption procedure.
IELTS (Academic only) – Overall minimum score of 6.5 and no individual band score of less than 6.0; TOEFL (internet based) – Overall minimum score of 90 and no individual skills score of less than 20; Pearson (PTE Academic) – Overall score of 58 and no individual Communicative Skills score of less than 58; Cambridge C1 Advanced C2 Proficiency – Overall minimum score of 185 with no less than 185 in each skill.
