COURSE DESCRIPTION

The Graduate Certificate in Business Studies is designed to ensure you are equipped with the skills and knowledge to succeed in postgraduate business programs. You will cultivate your skills in critical thinking and analysis, reflective practice and professional presentation, as well as developing an understanding and knowledge base of contemporary business theory and practices around marketing, accounting and organisational management.

Learning Outcomes: 1 Develop high level written and oral communication skills to explain and critique theoretical propositions, methodologies and conclusions and apply these to complex management problems across audiences characterised by culturally and linguistically diverse people with varying levels of expertise. 2 Critically evaluate in-depth knowledge of foundational and contemporary management theory, principles and processes and reflect on their efficacy in current practice.

Course structure: Completion of the Graduate Certificate in Business Studies requires 4 compulsory units (50 credit points).

REQUIREMENTS

For admission to this course you need either: 1) A completed Australian Advanced Diploma or above, or approved equivalent#; OR 2) at least two years’ management experience.

IELTS score with an overall Band of 6 and no band less than 6; or a TOEFL (iBT) overall score of 72 (no individual skill must be lower than: Reading 16; Listening 16; Speaking 18; and, Writing 22) or a PTE Academic overall score of 50 with no score lower than 50.

The most popular courses offered are the environmental studies that include wilderness management, marine sciences and indigenous studies in Tasmanian literature. Other unconventional courses include agriculture development, studies on the community and population and ocean study programs. The university also comprises of a Music Conservatorium, Art school and a School of Clinical studies.
