COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course provides an opportunity for registered pharmacists, particularly those from rural and remote areas, to develop clinical pharmacy skills and qualifications in clinical pharmacy and pharmacy practice research by offering a flexible education program delivered online.
Career outcomes
The course should equip registered pharmacists with the fundamental knowledge and skills to enhance career opportunities as a clinical or consultant (medication review) pharmacist.
Professional Recognition
Within Australia and overseas, postgraduate education in Clinical Pharmacy is often considered preferable for senior clinical positions.
Course structure
The course offers six clinical core units, where students will able to develop advanced Evidence-Based Management skills to improve the pharmaceutical care of patients with complex healthcare needs. Six core units will broadly cover the areas of:
Infectious Diseases; Cardiovascular disorders; Neurological and Psychiatric Disorders; Adverse Drug Reactions and Gastrointestinal Disorders; Endocrinology and Supportive care for Oncology Patients; Respiratory Disorders and Renal Diseases.
REQUIREMENTS
To be eligible for an offer applicants must have:An AQF 7 or above Bachelor level degree in Pharmacy from an Australian Pharmacy Council APC accredited undergraduate program or another university or tertiary institution that is deemed equivalent.
Evidence of current AHPRA registration under the General Registration Type for the profession of Pharmacist, without conditions or notations, or equivalent evidence of registration in another country.
International applicants are required to meet the English Language test requirement of IELTS 7.0 with no individual band less than 7.0.
Cambridge BEC (Business English Certificate) Higher – C Grade.
EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTION
The University of Tasmania was officially founded on 1st January 1890 and is located at Sandy Bay, Tasmania. In addition to the main campus at Sandy Bay, it also operates out of the Newnham Campus and the Cradle Coast Campus. The most popular courses offered are the environmental studies that include wilderness management, marine sciences and indigenous studies in Tasmanian literature.
