COURSE DESCRIPTION
The Graduate Certificate in Professional Accounting is a four-subject introductory course designed to provide a general understanding of accounting and related areas of business study. It provides foundational knowledge in the areas of accounting, finance, economics and law.
This course is designed for students who have business experience but lack the formal qualifications for direct entry to the master’s programs in professional accounting.
Course aims
The course comprises a mix of accounting, finance and related subjects which collectively provide a range of essential business skills and knowledge which are necessary for managerial-level employment in today’s dynamic business environment.
Course structure
The course totals 24 credit points, made up of four core subjects.
Careers
Career options include management-level positions in industry or government, as well as not-for-profit organisations.
REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must have completed a UTS recognised bachelor’s degree, or an equivalent or higher qualification, or submitted other evidence of general and professional qualifications that demonstrates potential to pursue graduate studies.
All applicants who do not meet the academic requirement may still be considered on the basis of:
• a minimum of at least four years’ full time, or equivalent, relevant work experience.
The English proficiency requirement for international students or local applicants with international qualifications is: Academic IELTS: 6.5 overall with a writing score of 6.0; or TOEFL: paper based: 550-583 overall with TWE of 4.5, internet based: 79-93 overall with a writing score of 21; or AE5: Pass; or PTE: 58-64 with a writing score of 50; or C1A/C2P: 176-184 with a writing score of 169.
