COURSE DESCRIPTION
Gain a comprehensive understanding of crime and how to address causes and effects in this area while being equipped with a solid legal education. For social scientists, this double degree will enable you to advocate for clients in a legal context. If you’re pursuing a legal career, studying criminology will provide a depth of knowledge that will increase your employability.
Throughout the Bachelor of Social Science (Criminology), you will investigate why people commit crime, how societies conceptualise harm, and why some are classed as crimes while others are not. You will also discover how societies respond to crime and whether responses are effective and fair for offenders, victims and the general community.
The Bachelor of Laws equips you with a comprehensive legal education. This world-class degree provides you with a thorough grounding in the law, the social and ethical context in which law operates, while equipping you with essential practical skills including an internship and integrated skills program.
A double degree at UOW provides a world-class qualification in less time and at less cost than studying the two degrees separately. Having a double degree will give you a competitive advantage in a crowded job market.
Accreditation & professional recognition: By completing your law degree at UOW, you are completing an academic qualification that is recognised for admission as a lawyer in Australia, subject to completing state-approved Practical Legal Training (PLT).
