COURSE DESCRIPTION
The Doctor of Medicine (MD) aims to produce knowledgeable, caring and competent graduates, who are well prepared to commence vocational training in any area of medicine. We offer a four-year course using a combination of face-to-face teaching sessions, clinical placements, blended, online, and self-directed learning.
No preference is given to any particular undergraduate degree.
Information on how to apply for this degree is available on the Doctor of Medicine website.
Medical practitioners from UOW local communities and other health practitioners are involved in all aspects of the MD degree, delivered using a range of teaching-learning approaches:
clinical teaching in metropolitan, regional or rural locations including hospitals, clinics, general practice and community health settings
small group learning activities and group work
seminars, workshops and tutorials
The MD aims to prepare graduates with knowledge of medical and systems sciences, Indigenous health, health advocacy and clinical practice skills, meeting professional, legal and ethical requirements of the medical profession.
With a strong focus on regional, rural and remote health care, many clinical placements are undertaken in those locations.
