Course summary
As technology increasingly becomes more important to business performance, there is a growing demand for IT graduates with technical and business expertise.
The Master of Information Technology is designed to provide the skills to develop an in-depth study of the organisational, economic, regulatory and sociotechnical issues that arise in the implementation of IT in business and government, and how to effectively manage those issues.
This degree
It is suitable for those without an IT background seeking to develop the fundamental skills required to work in the sector, or to undertake a management role in which an understanding of IT implementation is essential.
On completion, graduates will be able to work in various roles including database administrator, IT consultant, information systems manager, network architect, project manager, software developer/engineer, UX designer, or web developer.
What you will study
You will be introduced to fundamental concepts and core topics such as programming, data management, project management, strategic network design, data mining and big data, knowledge engineering, professionalism and ethics, and security essentials. You will complete a capstone subject comprising either a research project or an individual professional project where you will apply theoretical knowledge in practical situations and tackle real-world problems often provided by our industry partners.
