COURSE DESCRIPTION
Overview
The UNSW Graduate Diploma in Mathematics and Statistics is a flexible program designed to deepen the mathematics or statistics knowledge gained in undergraduate studies. It is intended for students with a degree comprising a significant quantitative component, such as Science, Engineering or Finance, who wish to consolidate their mathematical background for further studies.
Learning Outcomes
1. Graduates will be able to demonstrate broad and advanced disciplinary knowledge and skills in mathematical science and statistics;
2. Graduates will be able to communicate effectively to a range of audiences both in written and oral forms, and be capable of independent and collaborative enquiry.
3. Graduates will be able to demonstrate analytical and problem solving skills in a broad range of mathematical and statistical problems;
4. Graduates will be able to demonstrate enquiry-based learning and ways of thinking to mathematical or statistical problems.

REQUIREMENTS
To gain entry to this program, students must:
Have completed a Bachelor of Mathematics or a Bachelor of Science undergraduate degree with a major in mathematics or statistics; and
Have sufficient mathematical and/or statistical background, as indicated by an average of 65 or above in level III mathematics and/or statistics university courses.
English Language Requirements:
IELTS: 6.5 overall (min. 6.0 in each subtest); TOEFL IBT (Internet Based): 90 overall (min. 23 in writing, 22 in reading, listening and speaking); Pearson (PTE – Academic): 64 overall (min. 54 in each subtest); C1 Advanced Cambridge: 176 overall (min. 169 in each subtest); C2 Proficiency Cambridge: 180 overall (min. 180 in each subtest); UNSW Global University English Entry Course (UEEC): Successful completion with a minimum overall grade of C+ and a minimum grade of C in the writing component.
