COURSE DESCRIPTION

This qualification reflects the role of senior managers and small business owners of personal services businesses. They are responsible for coordinating the day-to-day operation of the business and for planning, monitoring and evaluating the work of the team. Salon managers also operate with significant autonomy to make strategic business management decisions. This qualification provides a pathway to work as a salon manager in any type of personal service business including hairdressing or beauty salons, barber shops and spas.

Course Structure

7 core units

3 elective units, consisting of:

1 unit from the list below, elsewhere in the SHB Training Package, or any other current Training Package or accredited course.

SHBXPSM001 – Lead teams in a personal services environment

SHBXPSM002 – Manage treatment services and sales delivery

SHBXPSM003 – Promote a personal services business

SHBXWHS002 – Provide a safe work environment

BSBMGT502 – Manage people performance

BSBWOR501 – Manage personal work priorities and professional development

BSBLED501 – Develop a workplace learning environment

Outcome:

Salon Manager

REQUIREMENTS

Entry to this qualification is open to individuals who have:

  • Achieved a Certificate III in Hairdressing (or equivalent);

AND

  • Following completion of Certificate III in Hairdressing, have at least one year full time employment experience as a hairdresser in a salon environment, where they have applied the skills and knowledge covered in the Certificate III in Hairdressing qualification.

Students must also satisfy the following Age, English language and Academic requirements:

  • Must be 18 years of age or over

  • Must have a satisfactory English Proficiency level of 5.5 or equivalent of IELTS Band

  • Must have completed Year 10 or its equivalent

Prior to enrolling in this course, students must complete Victorian International Academy’s Language, Literacy and Numeracy assessment and Pre-Training Review interview so we can assess the suitability of this course to meet your needs and to identify any areas of support required. for a successful enrolment, students must be 18 years old.

Selection for enrolment in our courses will be approved for applicants who meet the qualification and work experience entry requirements.
