Have you always dreamt of flying for a career? On successful completion of the Diploma of Aviation (Commercial Pilot Licence – Aeroplane) course you will be ready to make your dreams a reality.
This course complies with both Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) licensing regulations and Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) Standards for Registered Training Organisations (RTOs). This means that on successful completion of the course you will be awarded the following:
Diploma of Aviation (Commercial Pilot Licence – Aeroplane)
CASA Commercial Pilot Licence
Course Content
To be awarded the Diploma of Aviation, students must complete the 29 core units of competency listed as part of the AVI50219 training package found here, as well as the following 3 elective units:
AVIF0023 – Apply aircraft safety procedures
AVIN0004 – Supervise and manage safe flight operations as pilot in command
AVIZ0002 – Maintain and manage situational awareness as pilot in command
Outcomes
On successful completion of the course you will be awarded the nationally recognised AVI50219 Diploma of Aviation (Commercial Pilot Licence – Aeroplane). You will also be issued a CASA Commercial Pilots Licence.
Delivery
This course is currently delivered on both a full-time and part-time basis at Jandakot Airport. This course is an intensive Integrated Course which means it combines ground theory and practical flight training in a structured way and is designed to be completed in a condensed period of time.
Full Time
As a full-time student you will attend the college 5 days a week, generally Monday to Friday, 8 am to 4 pm. Your training will be structured in a way which integrates both theory and flying. The nominal duration of the full-time course is 12 months.
The full-time course is fast paced and will require good attendance and study at home to ensure the outcomes are achieved in the allotted time.
REQUIREMENTS
For entry into this Diploma course, the following prerequisites must be met:
- The minimum age to commence training is 17.
- Applicants are required to hold a current CASA Class One Medical Certificate. Click here for more information on how to obtain a Medical.
- Applicants are required to hold a current Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC). Click here for more information on how to obtain an ASIC.
- Sit a Language, Literacy and Numeracy Assessment with an Exit Level 3 or greater in the Australian Core Skills Framework.
- For international students, an academic IELTS of 6.0 or greater is required (or equivalent as determined by the College).
EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTION
The Western Australian Aviation College, founded in 1995, is a Registered Training Organisation located at Perth, Western Australia. The College awards an advanced diploma and certificate courses in the areas of aviation, and transport and distribution. The courses cover the Civil Aviation Safety Authority syllabus for the Commercial Pilot Licence. They also provide other essential training including ancillary subjects, which not only provide a higher level of education but also improves the graduate’s prospects for employment.
