COURSE DESCRIPTION
Increasingly in the digital age, data plays an important role in many occupations. Extracting information from data has become a science in itself, blending skill sets from mathematics, statistics and computing to help companies drive informed decision making and problem solving.
Studying this course will provide you with extensive scientific skills and methods to extract meaningful data and solve complex problems.
Every industry benefits from the correct use of data, as it provides insights into their customers, business and environment. During this course you will learn about the various types of data, the extraction of relevant and meaningful data, as well as developing the analytical skills to turn this data into valuable insights. Throughout your studies you will learn how to efficiently identify trends, understand customers and predict behaviour, detect fraud, and identify credit risk.
Our Master of Data Science provides a strong applications focus, covering the nature of data, including Big Data and data driven investigations, as well as visual and computational analytics.
On completion of the course, you will have completed two self-guided master projects, and will graduate with the confidence and skills to draw out meaningful insights with actionable metrics.

REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must have successfully completed an undergraduate degree, or higher, in any discipline.
Additional Information
Previous experience of statistics or computer programming will be an advantage but is not essential.
Applicants with the following may be eligible to receive credit for prior learning up to 80 credit points:
an undergraduate degree in data science and 2 years full-time equivalent managerial/professional work experience in roles relating to data science, machine learning, statistician, data analyst or associated roles;
OR
a graduate certificate, or higher, in data science.
Applicants seeking admission on the basis of work experience must support their application with a Statement of Service for all work experience listed on the application.
English Language Requirements:
IELTS: 6.5 overall score (min 6.0 in each subtest); TOEFL internet-based score of 82: Writing 21, Speaking 18, Reading 13, Listening 13; Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE): 58 overall; No communication skills less than 50.
