COURSE DESCRIPTION

Upgrade your skills in a fully accredited professional Engineering course. Gain the required knowledge and qualification to stay on top in a dynamic environment, with specialisations in civil, environmental, mechanical, electrical, telecommunications or mechatronic engineering.

Western’s streamlined Master of Engineering can be completed in two years to get you fully qualified and progressing your career sooner. This degree is taught at our innovative Parramatta City Campus, and enables you to pursue a specialisation from our broad set of engineering fields.

Completion of this course will prepare you for a dynamically developing and changing technological environment, allowing you to stay at the forefront of the engineering world.

Graduates of this course will emerge with provisional accreditation at the Professional Engineer level by Engineers Australia, and gain access to the Centre for Infrastructure Engineering located at Western Sydney University.

Mechatronics:

Mechatronics (and robotics) provides the skills necessary for the design of smart machines of all types: cruise control in automobiles, pilotless spacecraft, automated factories and medical telerobotics. The course, accompanied by an extensive and integrated hands-on laboratory program, is essentially concerned with the design of intelligent mechanical systems and automation, and includes the study of robotics, computer control, automated manufacturing, microprocessor applications and machine design. Graduates in the program acquire the combined skills of mechanical and computer/electrical engineering that are needed in leading-edge industries such as aerospace systems, the car industry, automation and robotic applications, biomedical engineering, laser systems, and building materials manufacture.

REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must have successfully completed a recognised four year undergraduate degree, or higher, in engineering in one of the specialisations, e.g. Civil, Environmental, Mechatronic, Mechanical, Electrical, Telecommunication.

Applicants seeking admission on the basis of work experience must support their application with a Statement of Service for all work experience listed on the application.

English Language Requirements:

IELTS: 6.5 overall score (min 6.0 in each subtest); TOEFL internet-based score of 82: Writing 21, Speaking 18, Reading 13, Listening 13; Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE): 58 overall; No communication skills less than 50.
