Overview
Enhance your career and gain skills in counselling with UniSQ’s Graduate Certificate of Counselling (Foundations of Practice). Your studies will include national mental health standards, professional practice, risk management counselling frameworks, ethics and legislation.
The skills you will gain from your counselling studies will be transferable between nursing, psychology, teaching, welfare, human services or allied health practices.
Our online counselling degree is designed to develop your career within the health, psychology or human services profession.
Offered part-time, this degree is a professional development opportunity for psychologists and social workers.
There is a four-day mandatory residential school for each of the four Foundations of Practice courses.
Further study
After completing the Graduate Certificate of Counselling, you have the option to take the credit from your studies and go on to complete UniSQ’s Graduate Diploma of Counselling or the Master of Counselling.
Career outcomes
As a graduate, your counselling and case management skills will provide you with the opportunity to work in a professional nursing, psychology, teaching, welfare, human services or allied health practices.
Note: Courses within this specialisation have mandatory residential schools on-campus at UniSQ Ipswich.
REQUIREMENTS
A bachelor’s degree from a recognised university.
IELTS (Academic only) – Overall minimum score of 6.5 and no individual band score of less than 6.0; TOEFL (internet based) – Overall minimum score of 90 and no individual skills score of less than 20; Pearson (PTE Academic) – Overall score of 58 and no individual Communicative Skills score of less than 58; Cambridge C1 Advanced C2 Proficiency – Overall minimum score of 185 with no less than 185 in each skill.
