If a career that champions good health for all people is something you aspire to, expand your options and focus on the future with the Bachelor of Health Science/Bachelor of Applied Innovation double degree.
The only double degree of its kind, this integrated program combines knowledge and skills development in health science while you learn how to leverage innovation for positive change in people’s health as well as your industry.
You’ll gain the qualifications to become an effective health scientist, with core study across a variety of disciplines and majors aligned with your aspirations. In addition, you’ll gain practical and technological innovation skills that will help you develop transformative solutions to the complex challenges of today and emerging opportunities of tomorrow.
Develop complementary and cross-disciplinary skills as you learn in health science labs equipped with cutting-edge, industry-standard technology. You‘ll learn about innovation in a collaborative and interdisciplinary environment supported by specialist academic teams. Grow creative confidence, foster collaboration, and hone your leadership potential as you tackle activities inspired by your passions and interests.
Swinburne is devoted to experiential study, so you’ll have ample opportunity for Work Integrated Learning opportunities in the form of placements, internships and industry-based project work.
Upon graduation, you’ll be equipped to work in health science or innovation fields – or a combination of the two. You could pursue work as a medical researcher, health policy developer, clinical technologist, or nutritionist or take a more innovation-led pathway as an innovation consultant, strategic designer or even start your own business.
Career opportunities
Career opportunities are extremely broad and range from business administration through to organisational management. With the development of skills and attributes through innovation capabilities, professional innovation roles may include; Innovation Consultant, Innovation Lead, Innovation Analyst, Strategic Designer, Creative Producer, Start-up Founder, Human-Centred Researcher, Self-employed Entrepreneur, Product Manager, Transformation Lead, Innovation Strategist and Innovation Manager.
REQUIREMENTS
Successful completion of one of the following:
Successful completion of the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) or its equivalent, such as an interstate or international Year 12 qualification.
Completion or partial completion of an approved tertiary qualification (including Certificates IV (completed), Diplomas, Advanced Diplomas, Associate Degrees and Degrees).
Applicants without a formal qualification but with significant and relevant work experience will be considered if they can demonstrate that they can undertake the course with a reasonable prospect of success.
English language requirements
Satisfactory completion of one of the following:
- Swinburne’s English for Academic Purposes (EAP 5 Advanced level) with overall 65%, all skills 65%
- minimum IELTS overall band of 6.0 (Academic Module) with no individual band below 6.0
- TOEFL iBT (internet-based) – 64 (no less than 13 in reading, 12 in listening, 18 in speaking, 21 in writing)
- Pearson (PTE) minimum score of 50 (no communicative skills less than 50)
- C1 Advanced: 169, no band less than 169
- any other equivalent assessment of English language proficiency.
