The Diploma in Professional Communication provides a range of knowledge and skills in professional communication including written, spoken and analytical skills. The course is ideal for working professionals seeking additional experience and qualifications to assist them in their professional roles and progress their career.
Course Aims
The Diploma in Professional Communication aims to develop an understanding of and competence in the core elements of professional communication. This gives graduates a competitive advantage in a variety of workplaces, whether in Australia or overseas.
Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
- demonstrate knowledge within communication studies, with depth in some of the themes, concepts, theories, practices and techniques studied in this field;
- demonstrate cognitive and communication skills to identify, analyse, evaluate and synthesise ideas and information from a variety of sources;
- select and use appropriate communication technologies, forms, styles and techniques to investigate problems and present ideas and arguments coherently for specific purposes and intended audiences within a range of professional contexts;
- transfer and apply theoretical concepts to plan and develop project, solve problems and make decisions in a range of professional or further learning situations; and
- demonstrate initiative, judgement and personal responsibility in decision-making and problem-solving while working both in collaboration with others and independently.
REQUIREMENTS
For direct admission into undergraduate courses offered by UNE you must have completed an educational qualification considered to be at least equivalent to completion of Year 12 in Australia. Entry requirements vary from country to country
An IELTS (Academic) overall score of at least 6.0 with no sub-band less than 5.5; or equivalent TOEFL score of at least 213 in the computer-based test; or at least 79 in the internet-based test with no less than 22 in the written component; or a PTE Academic minimum overall score of 57 with no skill less than 50.

The University of New England was originally formed in 1938 as the New England University College, a College of the University of Sydney. It became fully independent in 1954. The university is located on several sites in Armidale, NSW. All the programs are offered via the four faculties: Arts; Economics, Business and Law; Education, Health and Professional Studies; and The Sciences; these faculties incorporate 18 teaching schools. Research is offered in the areas of rural science, agricultural economics, geology, educational administration, linguistics, archaeology, etc.
