COURSE DESCRIPTION
In this course, you’ll graduate ready to work as a primary school teacher for Years 1 to 6, a primary school Health and Physical Education teacher, and a secondary Health and Physical Education teacher for Years 7 to 10.
You’ll study areas of the primary curriculum including English, Mathematics, Science, Humanities and Social Sciences, Health and Physical Education, and the Arts.
You’ll design, deliver and lead a sport development program for juniors, either within a school or club and receive coaching accreditation in selected sports.

The Bachelor of Education Primary, 1-10 Health and Physical Education course enables students to develop the knowledge, skills and capabilities to teach in a primary classroom from Years 1 to 6. In addition, graduates will specialise in Health and Physical Education (HPE) thus enabling them to be Curriculum Leaders in HPE across the Years 1 to 10 and to (be) lead extracurricular activities.
Enjoy practical placements, which could include metropolitan, rural, remote, international, multicultural, hospital, private and state school environments.
Before you start your first prac, you’ll be able to practise dealing with challenging behaviour, parent teacher interviews and other situations by using SimLabTM technology, our virtual classroom that uses actors and avatars.
What you’ll learn
You’ll be mentored by our team of experienced teaching professionals to become a confident, creative and flexible teacher. During your course, you’ll build the knowledge and skills you need to meet your career and study goals. Some of the things you’ll learn include:
What is health and physical education and how to teach it
How to run a Sport Education program, including setting up and running sport sessions and participating in teams
How to coach a number of different sports in the Sport Practicum unit, being guided by expert mentors who are leaders in their fields
Creating and managing inclusive and effective learning environments
Career opportunities
When you graduate, you’ll be qualified to teach children from Years 1-6 in primary schools and teach Health and Physical Education for students up to Year 10.
