Become a helicopter pilot today! Take off into an aviation career with the AVI50319 Diploma of Aviation (Commercial Pilot Licence – Helicopter).

This course is designed for students with little or no prior flying experience. It provides an intensive 26-week program that includes both theory and real-world flying. Learn about aerodynamics, meteorology, navigation, radio communications, and operating in controlled and non-controlled airspace.

This nationally recognised qualification will equip you with the practical and theoretical skills and knowledge required to obtain a commercial helicopter licence in compliance with relevant regulatory requirements of the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) and Australian operating standards.

As a qualified pilot, you can work in various areas, including tourism, charter, search and rescue, rural mustering, police, fire bombing, aerial application, emergency services operations.

REQUIREMENTS

To enrol in the AVI50319 Diploma of Aviation (Commercial Pilot Licence – Helicopter) you must have met the following eligibility criteria:

Participants must be a minimum of 18 years of age prior to the completion of this qualification.
Completed year 12 with passing grades in Math & English; or, successful completion at the required level (exit Level 3 working at Level 4) of the Basic Key Skills Builder (BKSB) assessment through TAFE Queensland.
Obtain a Unique Student Identifier (USI) prior to enrolment.
Hold or be eligible to hold an Aeronautical Radio Operator Certificate.
Have an Aviation Reference Number (ARN).

Its base is located in Caboolture Airport, Queensland. Training is provided to obtain Commercial Pilot Licence standard for both fixed wing and rotary wing students. Training and endorsements such as Float-plane, Mustering, Turbine, Low Level, Sling, Constant Speed Propeller, Retractable Undercarriage, Instrument Rating and Initial Twin-Engine rating are also available. Training is also provided to obtain Private Pilots License.
