The Certificate III prepares you for a rewarding career in the in-demand childcare industry.
During this course and through your placement, you’ll learn how to:
- Provide care to children and supervise them during play, sleeping, and eating
- Facilitate leisure, games, activities, and learning
- Enable and encourage them to achieve developmental outcomes
This course is delivered face to face in the classroom, simulated childcare environments, and through work placement.
Following completion of this course, students may choose to advance their studies with the Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care.

Study, assessment methods and facilities
This course will combine classroom training with on the job training by our highly qualified training staff. Students will be able to put into practice skills that they have learnt in classroom through placement at a registered Childcare Facility.
This course is delivered face-to-face, through a combination of tutorials and workshops. You will be assessed through written tests, assignments and work placements.
Work Placement
As part of your Certificate III qualification, you’ll be required to complete 120-150 hours of work placement in a registered childcare facility.
Work placement is organised for you to be completed at one of Academia’s industry partners that we organise and manage for you. During placement, you’ll have the opportunity to put into practice the skills you have learnt in the classroom!
Academia has a strong industry connections; currently, we are partnered with more than 70 childcare facilities.
Career pathway
Those who obtain their Certificate III qualification can enter the dynamic industry and thrive in roles such as:
- Childcare educator
- Family day care educator
- Nanny
- Educational support staff
- Teacher aide
REQUIREMENTS
Year 11 or above (Victoria, Australia) or equivalent International qualification as recognized by the Department of Home Affairs
Must be at least 18 years of age
English Language proficiency:
IELTS (General or Academic) – Overall 5.5
TOEFL iBT (Internet-Based) – 60
TOEFL Paper – 523 (with a min TWE 3.5)
TOEFL CBT (computer-Based) – 193 (with a min TWE 3.5)
PTE – Academic 36 with no communicative skill score less than 34
TOEIC – Total score 605 or higher
The Cambridge FCE, CAE or CPE – Pass with an average of 60% or higher.
