COURSE DESCRIPTION

The Amity College primary curriculum follows the requirements of NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA). It is designed to equip students with the necessary knowledge and skills to build a strong foundation for their learning in literacy and numeracy, give students a strong start in literacy through a range of intervention programs, encourage each student to achieve at their highest level in a range of subjects developing academic, artistic, musical, naturalist and sporting intelligence, give each student with knowledge of a language other than English, and to help students develop moral values and attitudes.

1. Early Stage 1 (Kindergarten)
2. Stage 1 (Years 1 and 2)
3. Stage 2 (Years 3 and 4)
4. Stage 3 (Years 5 and 6)

Curriculum Overview

Key Learning Areas (KLAs) are taught using the NSW Syllabus from Kindergarten to Year 6 consisting of:

– English
– Mathematics
– Science and Technology
– Human Society and its Environment (HSIE)

• History
• Geography

– Personal Development, Health and Physical Education (PDHPE)
– Creative Arts
– Languages

Amity College students participate in various on-campus and inter-campus activities and events that give them a chance to showcase their abilities. Numerous incursions and excursions are also planned annually to enrich and enhance student learning.

The school week is divided into 25 periods. There are 5 periods of 60 minutes per day. Fruit Break is daily at 10 am to instil healthy eating habits. Recess and Lunch play times are 30 minutes each, with an additional 10 minutes of eating time allocated in clas

REQUIREMENTS

Kindergarten to Year 6 – evidence of the student’s application to school work and ageappropriate achievement in the literacy and numeracy areas of the curriculum will be reviewed.

EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTION

Amity College, founded in 1996, offers study options across 5 different schools in 3 campuses across NSW with more than 2000 students from kindergarten to Year 12. Since its inception, it has been a major leader in South Western Sydney with success in certain HSC subjects.
