COURSE DESCRIPTION

This qualification provides the skills and knowledge for an individual to administer and manage information and communications technology (ICT) support in small-to-medium enterprises (SMEs) using a wide range of general ICT technologies.

Persons working at this level provide a broader rather than specialized ICT support function, applying a wide range of higher-level technical skills in ICT areas such as networking, IT support, database development, programming and web development.

Employment Opportunities

Possible job titles that are relevant to this qualification include: Information systems office manager, Office systems administrator, IT office manager, IT systems administrator, Systems manager.

Assessment

This is a competency-based course and assessment is undertaken. The assessments may be in a one-on- one environment, or through the completion of set tasks/projects for submission. It is also based on completion of assignments, practical tests and/or examinations for each subject. We work with you and assist you to demonstrate your competency.

Pathways

After achieving ICT50115 Diploma of Information Technology, students have a number of pathway options: ICT60215 Advanced Diploma of Network Security, BSB50215 Diploma of Business, or other Diploma level qualifications, an undergraduate degree at universities that are willing to accept your credentials and experience

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

Students who have completed units of study from nationally recognized courses can apply for Credit Transfer. Those who have existing knowledge from practical experience can apply for RPL. To check eligibility, please discuss with Australian Careers College prior to enrolment.

REQUIREMENTS

There are no prerequisite requirements for individual units of competency. International students must be over eighteen years old and provide evidence to demonstrate both academic and English language entry requirements as follows:

Academic Requirements: Successful completion of Year 12 or equivalent and/or above.

Students need to demonstrate they have proficiency in English before a place can be offered. If an international student does not have any current IELTS score or

any recognized English language result, they are required to take an English language test administered by ATIC.

The following English language tests are recognized and accepted by Australian Technology and Innovation College:

IELTS (International English Language Testing System) test with overall score of 5.5 OR

TOEFL iBT (Test of English as a Foreign Language) internet-based test with a score of 46 or above, OR

PTE (Pearson Test of English) Academic with a score of 42 or above, OR

Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) from Cambridge ESOL test scores 47 or above, OR

Successfully completed AQF level certificate III and or above

Satisfactory completion of ELICOS studies upper intermediate or above.
