COURSE DESCRIPTION

If you are looking to re-enter the work force or want a career change, this qualification will give you the knowledge and practical skills to work within an person-centred support environment. This qualification provides a well-rounded balance of skills that will assist you in becoming an invaluable team member to a wide range of ageing and disability support services.

This qualification reflects the role of workers in the community and/or residential setting who follow an individualised plan to provide person-centred support to people who may require support due to ageing, disability or some other reason. Work involves using discretion and judgement in relation to individual support as well as taking responsibility for own outputs.

Workers have a range of factual, technical and procedural knowledge, as well as some theoretical knowledge of the concepts and practices required to provide person-centred support.

REQUIREMENTS

All applications from international students will be assessed against

the following criteria:

1. Age: Must be over 18. AIAS does not accept students under 18

years of age

2. English language requirements

• Entry to Certificate II- IV: IELTS 5 or equivalent

Entry into any level if the student has undertaken prior study in an educational institution where English was the medium of instruction: OR

• Entry into any level if the student has successfully completed at least 6 months of study in an Australian educational institution

3. Academic requirements

• Entry to Certificate II- IV: Year 10 or equivalent
