COURSE DESCRIPTION

Gain the advanced engineering skills you need to work at the cutting edge of mechatronics

Chisholm’s Bachelor of Engineering Technology, specialising in mechatronics, will prepare you for a career as an engineering technologist, a career in high demand both locally and across the world.

And as a Chisholm student, you’ll be exposed to a broad range of technical subjects, skill sets and industry trends, ensuring you’ll stand out from the crowd when looking for employment.

Through this course, you’ll develop advanced skills in engineering practice, project management, problem solving, programming concepts, engineering system design, engineering scientific principles, instrumentation principles, manufacturing systems and workplace training.

Chisholm’s Bachelor of Engineering Technology is endorsed by the Institute of Engineers Australia.

Experienced teachers who are experts in the field, will guide you through the program, which involves a combination of theory and practice, plus practical work placement.

Transition support for new students entering Chisholm’s higher education courses is built into the course delivery. Students participate in a two-day Connect2HE program the week prior to the start of their first semester and must complete a Transition to Higher Education subject in the first semester. Participating in this program and completing this subject is mandatory for students without a Bachelor degree or higher, or relevant academic experience. Academic skills are also included across the other subjects.

Indicative workload

Weekly workload per semester for 5 subjects: 20 hours face-to-face plus 20 hours personal study time

Learning outcomes

Develop engineering solutions through a creative process and design effective engineering products by employing appropriate technologies.

Critically analyse and evaluate engineering concepts, processes and products relevant to:
a. the current and future needs of the industry
b. manage complex engineering projects to ensure operational reliability within the context of the industry

Evaluate the potential impact that emerging engineering technologies can have on the wellbeing of society.

Apply knowledge and practices in the workplace that comply with the Standards for an Engineering Technologist as determined by Engineers Australia.

REQUIREMENTS

Australian Year 12 (VCE or equivalent) or international equivalent qualification.

IELTS (academic): 6.0; TOEFL (internet based): 60; PTE (academic): 50; Cambridge Advanced CAE: 52; Occupational English Test OET: Pass.
