COURSE DESCRIPTION

The Graduate Diploma in Public Policy and Administration provides a basic foundation in the key theoretical, conceptual, and thematic issues in Public Policy and Administration.

The course articulates with the 18 unit Graduate Certificate in Public Administration or the Graduate Certificate in Public Policy and the 72 unit Master of Public Administration and 72 unit Master of Public Policy and the sequentially developed topics enable progression through the three awards.

The course is also available as an exit award from the 72 unit Master of Public Administration and 72 unit Master of Public Policy, subject to meeting the requirements in the Program of Study below. In order to be able to exit with the Graduate Diploma in Public Policy and Administration students must indicate their intention to not proceed with the primary degree and request that they exit with the Graduate Diploma in Public Policy and Administration.

Program of study overview

To qualify for the Graduate Diploma in Public Policy and Administration, a student must complete 36 units with a grade of P or NGP or better in each topic, according to the program of study below.

Not all topics are necessarily available each year.

Upon completion of 18 units a student may choose to exit with a Graduate Certificate in Public Administration or a Graduate Certificate in Public Policy, subject to meeting the program of study for that award.

REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must normally hold a bachelor degree or equivalent qualification from an approved tertiary institution.

Students who have completed a Graduate Certificate in Public Policy, a Graduate Certificate in Public Administration, a Graduate Certificate in International Relations, or an approved equivalent, but not an undergraduate degree, must also meet a GPA requirement.

English language requirements

IELTS (Academic): 6.0 Overall with 6.0 Speaking, 6.0 Writing; TOEFL iBT: 72 Overall with 18 Speaking, 21 Writing; Pearson PTE Academic: 50 Overall with 50 Speaking, 50 Writing; Cambridge C1 Advanced: 169 Overall with 169 Speaking, 169 Writing; Occupational English Test (OET): 300 Speaking; 300 Writing; 300 Reading; 300 Listening; Duolingo (Up to and including Semester 2, 2024): Overall 95-100.
